I made a blog over at Tumblr. I already have 4 blogs over there now, and it's so easy to run multiple blogs at once over there. So I made a blog for my art and design. I plan on using that one more permanently. This blog will probably go away once my real portfolio site is launched. Around May. It will be more professional, and then my Tumblr feed will be posted directly to there. For now, you'll find my work here, but my works in progress and general ramblings about my art will be over at Lioradesigns.tumblr.com

I've been neglecting this site for a while now. I'll be updating soon (I hope) with my work from last semester, and I'm going to start updating with my work as I go for this semester. I'm learning three new programs, which is very nerve-wracking. Dreamweaver, Corel Painter 12 and AutoCAD Maya. Plus I have an expressive typography class, internship prep, English and History of Modern Design. Woah, that's crazy.
I just bought myself a new Wacom Intuos 4 tablet for digital painting. It's only the most amazing thing ever. Definitely worth the investment.

Some stuff I've been working on in Digital Painting (Corel Painter 12) is character design. The first assignment is to create a fictional character. It can be a mash-up of existing characters (such as a steampunk Dorothy) or it can be a video game or mythological character. So far I have an elf and Little Red Riding Hood assassin. I'll probably do some sort of futuristic soldier next.
I'm still getting used to the program, but I pick up new software pretty quickly. Plus I want to get the hang of painting digitally in time for my senior thesis.

I have this habit of biting off more than I can chew. Speaking of which, I'm posting a test background image here for a Composting website I'm working on. Blergh, HTML is hard. (I haven't taken any classes yet.)

Just a little sampling of what I've been up to these past few weeks. My mom and I are doing a few craft shows in the coming month. I planned on finishing these at the end of Summer, but school started and time got away from me. I came to this moment a week or so ago where I was thinking "oh shit, I have to make how many books in the next 2 weeks?!" But with some awesome help from my girlfriend, I was able to get these few finished. I'm spending this weekend making a bunch more.

I will be updating this again within the next week with finished pieces. I am also starting an After Effects project for the Ballet company and the packaging for the bakery. The packaging will include little cookie bags, cake boxes and tart boxes. I am almost finished the anthropomorphic piece- I just have to finish up some colored pencil (on top of the ink and oil washes that are already there).
On another note, I am in the process of exploring various companies and studios to intern for. My initial plan was to stay close to Philadelphia/NYC, but lately I've been toying with the idea of traveling over-seas. Though this will depend on whether or not I get a fellowship, as I cannot afford the travel/living costs and most of the internships are unpaid. I am feeling very anxious about internships but also extremely excited about what opportunities will arise in the near future.
